As far as releases go, this is probably the biggest one we’ve ever done. This is the first version that integrates the Track Attack cloud directly into the OCD software. With this feature, you can synchronize your data between all your computers, or compare with other drivers in your team. You can send data to your engine builder or driving coach, even if they are not at the track themselves. And of course, you never have to worry about losing the data when your laptop gets stolen or your hard drive dies. As soon as you log back into your account, it’s all there again.
When you first start the program, you will see a big “Track Attack” button in the top right corner of your screen:
When you press it, it will walk you through the process of creating and setting up your account at Track Attack, and you will have an option to import all your existing data into the Track Attack cloud. Don’t worry! If you are using the Unipro or ALFANO version of OCD now, all your data is set up to be “secret” by default. If you want to change this, and give someone else access to your data, you can right-click on the run, click “Share”, and configure who gets to see what in a dialog that looks like this:
In this example, I shared my best session from last September with my team, and with Matt. This session will show up automatically in their copies of Off Camber Data. In the other direction, if they share something with me, it shows up in my copy of Off Camber Data.
We had to make a lot of choices about how exactly to do this integration. Since this is the first release with built-in Track Attack, we know that we will probably re-visit a few of those choices. So if you have any feedback about this feature at all, don’t hesitate to write us back at feedback@offcamberdata.com.
This is a big change already, but we managed to add some other improvements to the mix as well:
- We now have a Polish translation! A new translation is always a lot of work and a remarkable achievement, and I want to give a big thanks to Grzegorz Kręt for getting this done.
- Importing files is now much faster than before. We addressed some performance issues last time, but we kept going, and found even more improvements.
- The track map can finally be rotated. Often you want to see the track map in a particular way, or you just want to optimize the space that is there. Now you can!
- Track Management now has an option to only show tracks that you have runs for. That should reduce some clutter when you have a lot of tracks.
- We simplified lap selection. It’s much easier to close a run, and there are fewer buttons taking up space.
As always, you can get the new version from the downloads page, or simply restart your old version of Off Camber Data. If you would like to contribute, feel free to comment on the blog, or send us an email at feedback@offcamberdata.com!
On a personal note, I want to thank both the Off Camber Data and the Track Attack teams for getting this done. They have been working on this for almost a year, often long hours and late nights, and it is very exciting to see all that work finally coming to fruition. I can’t wait to see the uses people will find for it!
